Weekenders on our own

i’ve been quite rowdy this past year. as mentioned many times before i have consumed many books, but that’s not of course all. i’ve been trying to play and finish a whole lot of games as well! my library has still a lot to go before the rate of games in a completed state is a bit more substantial, especially against the backlog of an ever-accumulating rate of humble bundle keys, and games acquired during different steam sales months and years ago during a more naïve chapter of my youth. i’m wiser now, and limited by spending to games of a more refined taste. if that isn’t a show of maturity and true refinement in consumption of culture, then i’m but a silly silly boy.

disregarding my superior collection of games, here’s some of the ones i want to bring up quickly (a lot of these aren’t completed, hehe)

finished kero blaster not too many weeks ago, and it was a nice experience for those who enjoyed cave story, and i’m very glad that it was made! quite simple gameplay, but very enjoyable. want to check out the complementary free demos as well (pink hour & pink heaven).

the silver case & the 25th ward: the silver case: a common theme around the games i’ve picked up is often the inability (or refusal?) to make many parts of them ANYTHING but extremely tedious, but still dripping with soul and passion. both suda51, swery65 (deadly premonitions, D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die,), and Yoko Taro (you KNOW nier) as well are usually common culprits of this. i bring them up as they are mostly from the same “”scene”” (japanese….). TSC and 25th Ward are both something more than, but still simply visual novels with extremely well-written characters and stories that will make your head twirl. the games seem to constantly contradict themselves, but i got very invested into them and their characters. wowza, these games are NOT for everyone, and i think that’s OK for art.

oh me and my boys played a lot of transport tycoon deluxe for a period, it was a swell time! haha. we did a couple of mods as well, mostly for the industry production chains. they are quite simple in the vanilla version after a while, so the possible extensions for them are very welcoming and bring a lot more to the game!

another great game with great characters is of course the widely well-recieved Disco Elysium. you most likely already know about this one, so i’ll continue onwards. (I’m the Friday Tribunal Cop, the Authority Incarnate, Lard Man, Threshold of Pain.)

there’s been a couple of chill smaller indie games added to my weekly gaming. among these are mini motorways, dorfromantik, and islanders. quick to pick up and just play during a short session. very simple and short game loops, haha.

i’m a well-known homestuck enthusiast, and i finally went and played the first hiveswap game. it’s a point&click. first half quite enjoyable, second eh.

northernlion is a menace, and i’m a sucker for the games he’s pushed down my throat daily. snkrx, luck be a landlord, pogostuck and loop hero are among these. some of these games i already knew beforehand, but yeah he’s played them as well so i bunched them together in this section. while we’re still bundling together games into a quick summary, here’s some rougelite-like games i’ve been playing as well: binding of isaac: repenteance, disc room, voidigo, POST VOID.

BOOMER SHOOTERS!!!!!!!! ultrakill and amid evil have been on my mind for a couple of months, espc ultrakill with its great mechanics and ability to put me into a different mindset similar to post void. you just disconnect your brain and let the Flow take you over. it’s great, very great. currently playing cruelty squad as well, and i’m gonna try and pick up dusk! new blood games are really hitting hard, hahaha. amid evil was a treat, dusk is more alike to it (Very quake-influenced). will try and pick up quake too hehe.

other than cruelty squad i’m currently playing axiom verge as well, almost finished symphony of the night so i was kind of in a mood for metroidvanias (and the second one just came out so time to finish the first). need to continue on critters for sale as well, very cool so far. wattam. celeste. omori.

i’ve been thinking about what to write the last few days. there’s a couple of subjects i would certainly spend some time on. i usually find myself thinking about these half an hour before my bedtime (10 PM, we’re tryin’ to stay Healthy). so here’s a quick filler post, with some 4chan greentexts that i’ve downloaded onto my computer.

lund, skåne

Sök bland miljoner produkter

my backstory? i moved from stockholm the summer before i would start the first grade in elementary school to the small village of kävlinge, north-west of Lund. lund isn’t a large city, it isn’t even the largest in Skåne county (that goes to the damned city of malmö), but i would do my continued studies there and i still am to this very day

the reason to why it came to be Lund, or even skåne for that matter, was that our neighbours from stockholm moved to skåne a couple of months before us. the kids went to a school in Lund, so i started there as well.

i would suggest against googling simply “lund“, as this is apparently slang for c*ck in india… but just like a good d*ck the city is really well-dimensioned. it isn’t too large to make it impossible to get around, but there’s still enough with places and stores to be at. ain’t to many people here, just enough. it’s a student city, with very nice architecture (apart from that “””modern””” brutalism jerk-off shit in rest of sweden)

Fil:Södervärnstornet, Malmö.jpg – Wikipedia
this is from malmö

lund’s buildings are one of the most beautiful ones in sweden 🙂 espc. some of the older university buildings.

the student culture is very nice. university life here is great and it is noticeable across the general city

i’ve discussed lund with several “lundensare” and exchange students, and the general consensuns is similar to the one i described before. is this a gigantic cope? i don’t think so, looking at the admission point-statistics for university, it is one of the more attractive choices across sweden. maybe that says more about the Quality of Education (QoE), but who the fuck cares.

the quick incident is a very interesting scandal that came about during the late 90s where-in sture bergwall (named thomas quick at the time of the incidents) pleaded guilty to a large number of murders.

he most likely did not commit a single one of them.

Det är riktigt att Christer Pettersson vid den här tidpunkten, i mars 1986, inte var misstänkt för mordet på Olof Palme. Polisen var inriktad på helt andra spår.

Regarding the suspect of the Palme murder

Tuesday the 27 April 2021

I had just read through the 7th book of the year. “Grisfesten”, written by the well-known swedish boomer Leif G.W. Persson back in ’78. A very down-to-earth police novel, following the two police inspectors Johnsson and Jarnebring in their hunt for the robber of Stockholm 6 post office. Soon bodies surrounding the crime start piling up.

The novel was later adapted for a film under a different name but largely following the same story. “Mannen från Mallorca” was released 1984, with Sven Wolter and Tomas von Brömssen as lead actors. I proceeded to watch that movie after finishing the book, as a side-note. I had seen tidbits of it before, and it was a totally fine police film. It started to turn a bit deep state towards the end of the film, which was pretty funny. Two typical Swedish cops having no idea what kind of power they were messing with, and they came out unscathed without even realizing the danger. It was simply just that, I had enjoyed the book so I proceeded to watch the movie after finishing it.

Leif GW Persson: Partiernas gängsamtal är meningslösa - Samtiden

the author Leif G.W. is beloved by the Swedish people, and his grunts and sighs between every sentence are ever so notorious and nonetheless charming. he is the quintessential boomer, and we all love him for that.

not only is he well-known for his books but his many TV appearances as an expert in police and criminology. he is also simply beloved by the Swedish people.

grisfesten came up on my radar as i had read bits of it in grade school. he has a very “boomer”-way of writing, with little to no subtlety and many remarks over how modern police dramas are simply fantasy and unrealistic. he certainly likes to repeat himself as well.

that was not however the only reason i read the book, he has been very interesting lately due to some recent swedish drama. he is connected to one of the biggest scandals in swedish law, which has been reintroduced into the swedish public after recent allegations against Göran Lambertz, a swedish jurist who has been involved high up in the chain of power. Leif G.W. is not a great friend of his, and i will further indulge in this in future posts.

await the future QUICK-INCIDENT SPECIAL EDITION posts, which will encompass at least 3 different cases in swedish law…………….

hey, winter snakes sleepwalking 7 years in tibet straight to hell

Dapper Gangsta Costume Kit
29,99 $ USD – Available

i’ve gone through one of my most INTIMATE spotify playlists and updated most of the list. there were some songs that simply didn’t intrigue me as much as they used to, and i had several better candidates to replace them.

let me walk through “this is what kills the knose” with you

these are some of the old classics, the behemoths that can’t help pulling my heartstrings 50 years down the line. they really kill me. bob hund’s det skulle vara lätt för mig… is one of the greatest swedish songs to have ever been released. sleepwalking by modest mouse is a great re-imagination of the classic “sleep walk” by santo & johnny. they both kill me. the shift from thomas singing “det skulle vara lätt för mig att säga att jag inte hittar hem, men det gör jag tror jag” to instead singing the absolutely beautiful line “det skulle vara lätt för mig att säga att jag inte gillar dig, men det gör jag tror jag” just ends me instantly.

some other great mentions from this category:

  1. Hey, by Pixies
  2. Straight to Hell, by The Clash
  3. Winter Snakes, by Joy Again
  4. Time (You and I), by Khruangbin
  5. Walking the Cow, by Daniel Johnston (RIP)
  6. America Won + America Too, by Hymie’s Basement

the newcomers, some have waited more than others to join this playlist. bär mig was an instant repeat-favorite for me, with it’s intro and emotional title drop. i have no idea why i haven’t added it to the playlist until now, it’s been on my radar for 2 years. radiohead’s the rainbow is a great fucking album. when it comes to discussing which of the radiohead albums are the best (OK Compute vs Kid A, basically) i’m a kid a-guy. but i do think that in rainbows might be the objectively winner of their discography. there’s a lot of really good songs, like weird fishes/arpeggio, 15 steps, bodysnatchers, and of course, jigsaw falling into place.

other newcomers:

  1. from the roof top~somewhere in the silence[sniper’s theme], by Ilaria Graziano
  2. Be My Baby, by SALES
  3. Désolé ft. Fatoumata Diawara , by Gorillaz
  4. Ambulance, by Blur

groovy new additions to the list. some of them aren’t as solid as most of the songs mentioned before, so they might lose their spot in the future. they are in any case real bangers. i enjoyed the album DAMN, i have to be straight about that. i think it’s a really good concept album, and it has some great deep songs. bitch don’t kill my vibe, from the good kid m.a.d city tho? it fucks. yung lean is another swedish artist that i think is a very charming young upstanding man. his new albums have been great, and i suggest listening to his and young gud’s sideproject död mark as well for more punky shit (the demos are also really goood…). violence really tickles my fancy.

these songs fucks:

  1. Hoe Cakes, by MF DOOM (RIP)
  2. In My Room, by Frank Ocean
  3. YEAH RIGHT, by Joji
  4. Reality Surf, by Bladee

feel free to dive into my psyche, you fucking bastards. yeah, you’d really get a kick out of that huh. fuckin’ loony.
